Ever wonder where some of those Starcraft 2 cheats come from? Or what’s the history or background of those cheat codes and how the programmers chose those certain phrases? Well, I did too until I stumbled upon this nice piece of information on the web. Some information was a bit surprising while others I’ve already guessed. If you’ve ever played or currently playing Starcraft 2 and have used those cheat codes, then perhaps you’d appreciate this tiny little bit of information I dug up while researching about Starcraft 2 cheats.
Cheat codes
Invulnerable (God Mode) – terribleterribledamage
The phrase “terrible, terrible damage,” is taken from Blizzard’s senior designer Dustin Browder who frequently uses the phrase whenever he watches battle reports and exhibition matches.
Money (5 Billion credits) – whysoserious
This phrase is uttered by Heath Ledger’s character, The Joker in the Batman movie “The Dark Knight.”

This phrase was taken from the game winning fan fiction written for The Epic Tome contest by a user named CrowToss. The story title is Real Men Drill Deep.
Free units (units do not cost any resources) – moredotsmoredots
World of Warcraft’s Hearing Dive’s immortal cry of Throw more DoTs more DoTs more DoTs!” DoTs refers to Damage over time.
Disabled Victory conditions – tyuhasleftthegame
References a Blizzard Battle Report where the message “Tyu has left the game” appeared
Terrazine gas (a mineral required for Belshir mission) – jaynestown
References an episode in the sci-fi TV series Firefly created by Joss Whedon

This should be obvious.

I’m hopeful I’ll be able to track the rest of the Starcraft 2 cheats’ original references and share it with you when I finally complete the list.
Oh, and on another note, using these cheat codes disables the achievements in game. To be able to complete the achievements you have to restart the game or play a game where the cheats haven’t been enabled. The only cheat code that doesn’t disable achievements is “OverEngineeredCodPiec.”
